'Salangai Oli' is the story of classical dancer Balu who hails from a poor family, but somehow manages to learn different forms of classical dances. His dream is to master all the dance forms and then create a new classical dance form of his own. Unfortunately, all his efforts fail due to unexpected and unfortunate happenings. These situations, coupled with his inability to achieve success, turn him into a drunkard. Just when he reaches a critical point in his life, his estranged beloved comes back into his life and tries to bring him back to his normal self.

Extensive debates and talks have been going on from time immemorial about wealth, knowledge and bravery. The movie 'Saraswati Sabadam' deals with the debate over superiority of one over the other. The question is raised by Narada in heaven as to which is more important in life. The three goddesses take this as a challenge to prove their greatness over the other. Goddess Saraswati blesses a dumb person and he becomes a very great poet. Goddess Lakshmi makes a beggar a queen and goddess Shakti transforms a coward into a very brave man. These three mortals are thrown together and made to battle out to prove their greatness.
